District Governor Corinna “Why on Earth Would You Go to Orlando in July?”
To meet thousands of fellow Lions from across the globe, that’s why! There’s truly no better way to celebrate the spirit of We Serve than being immersed in a sea of Lions united in service, laughter, and culture.
Over 750 District Governors gathered to complete our final day of training, which ended in an epic celebration—international cuisine, music from every continent, and dancing that tested both rhythm and knee joints. (Important note: DG Corinna has confirmed she does NOT have the “Moves like Jagger,” and her knee reminded her of that for several days.)
Convention Highlights:
International Parade: A definite favorite, especially enjoying the parade alongside a new Lion friend from Nigeria. The joy and unity were unforgettable.
Special DG Luncheon: Zone 3 Chair Margaret joined me for a wonderful meal and leadership fellowship with DGs from around the world.
Leo Chair Victory: Lion Adrian Miller (Eureka) secured a coveted VIP seat after some seating chaos in general admission. A BIG win!
Crowd Spotter Extraordinaire: VDG Jon Kimble put his height to good use as the official spotter…helpful when navigating convention crowds.
International Dinner: PID Dave Hajny and Lion Marie enjoyed a delightful evening with Lions from Romania, Slovenia, and Poland (who, by the way, spoke excellent English and better jokes).
Nepal Lions Celebration: A jaw-dropping announcement from the Nepal Lions…113 new clubs formed within the first two weeks of the Lionistic year! Their secret? Dance parties, food, and service. Who knew that was the winning formula?
Most Memorable Moment: DG Corinna officially became DG during the DGE ceremony…when her “Elect” ribbon was ceremoniously pulled off by none other than Lion Mom, Marie. A full-circle moment filled with pride.
A special thank you goes to PID Ben Apeland for stepping up and pulling the “Elect” ribbon for our neighboring District Governor, DG Peggy from Idaho. It was a kind and generous gesture that exemplifies the camaraderie and support that defines our Lions family.
And as amazing as the experience was, there’s truly no place like home. I’m grateful every day that my home is Montana and that some of my best friends are Montana Lions.
With pride in service, DG Corinna Christensen District Governor, Montana Lions District 37 Lead to Serve. Serve to Lead.
