District LCIF Co-Chairs PDG Lary Garrison & PDG Mike Tobin – November 25

District LCIF Co-Chair Lary Garrison – November 2025

This will be my last year as the Lions Clubs International Foundation Coordinator.

This has been one of my most satisfying positions serving Lions Clubs International. As I passed my 80th year on this planet it became clear that it was time to ensure the continued emphasis on District 37 receiving grants and supporting fundraising for OUR FOUNDATION! Please contact me with any questions or interest.

About 15 years ago our district supported LCIF moderately while also using grants sparingly. We occasionally received emergency grants as well as a few matching grants. With some emphasis on the variety of available grants clubs, District 37 started using them to remodel a Senior Center, purchase 100 state of the art readers used throughout Montana, purchase a state of the art ambulance, an emergency generator for a community shelter, a handicap fishing dock, youth diabetes camps, flood recovery, equipment for a food bank, and several Plus/Optix eye screeners.

At present clubs have applied for Hunger Grants, and others are exploring possible grants for community needs. At the same time District 37 has substantially increased your support of OUR FOUNDATION.

This has been accomplished with the outstanding efforts of PDG Mike Tobin on the western side of District 37. We will require someone to step forward to work with PDG Mike on the eastern side of the district. I will, if accepted by the District, continue as the District Chairperson for Lions Clubs International Foundation, and will assist the new LCIF Coordinator for the Lions Clubs International Foundation. I will also assist anyone taking on that position as long as I am capable.

Every club in District 37 should explore an LCIF Grant. Every community in District 37 has a need that can be addressed by an LCIF Grant! The District cannot make that determination, only your club can. If you haven’t explored the possibility of a Grant, why haven’t you? If you did and didn’t qualify, did you look at other options? PDG Mike and I can only help you when you request help.

At the same time I would be remiss to fail to ask for your support of OUR FOUNDATION. It can only respond to the district, state, national, or international needs if it is supported by you and every other Lion around the World! Yours in Lionism,

PDG Lary Garrison, LCIF Co-Coordinator
