Eastern Montana Lions Clubs Invited to Explore LCIF Funding & Service Opportunities
Hello Montana Lions,
When I took on the role of Governor of SD37, one of my primary goals was to shine more light on the incredible Lions serving across Eastern Montana. Time moved quickly, and while I wasn’t able to accomplish everything I had hoped during my term, my commitment to supporting our clubs and communities has only grown stronger.
Because of that commitment, I am proud to announce that I have accepted the role of LCIF Coordinator for Eastern Montana.
In September, I will be traveling to New Orleans for my initial LCIF training and look forward to learning even more about Lionism and the many opportunities available through Lions Clubs International Foundation (LCIF). With the support and guidance of PDGs Mike Tobin and Larry Garrison, I am excited to help clubs throughout Eastern Montana begin and complete meaningful new service projects that strengthen our communities.
LCIF exists to help Lions clubs turn compassion into action through grants and project support. Whether your club is considering a community improvement project, humanitarian service initiative, disaster relief effort, youth support program, vision project, or another service opportunity, I want you to know that I am here to help.
If your club has ideas but needs assistance identifying funding opportunities, navigating LCIF grants, or developing projects, please reach out. My goal is to help Lions across Eastern Montana bring more impactful projects to life and continue making our communities, our state, and our world a better place for everyone.

This notice will serve as a reminder that the Official Convention Call has been published in the LION Magazine in compliance with Article VI, Section 2 of the International By-Laws.

2026 Official Convention Call
Convention Call In compliance with Article VI, Section 2 of the International By-Laws, I hereby issue the Official Call for the 2026 International Convention. The 108th Lions International Convention will be held in-person July 3-7, 2026, with some events available on demand after convention. The purpose of the convention is to elect a president, first vice president, second vice president, third vice president and 18 members of the International Board of Directors, and to transact such other business as may properly come before the meeting.
The 2026 convention will be held in Hong Kong, China — a city alive with energy and possibility, where towering skyscrapers rise alongside ancient temples and every street hums with life. From vibrant markets and eclectic cuisine to breathtaking harbor views, Hong Kong offers a sensory experience at every turn. It’s the ideal setting for Lions International’s biggest event of the year.
Over five uplifting days, you’ll experience dynamic plenary sessions featuring world-class speakers and entertainment, a captivating international show and engaging seminars. You’ll also explore a lively exhibit hall, celebrate meaningful recognition moments and connect with Lions from around the world.
Convention brings together fellowship, fun and learning on a global scale. Join us as we celebrate our impact and ignite our passion for the year ahead.

Official Notice – 2026 International Convention, Hong Kong, China
The following proposed amendments to the International Constitution and By-Laws will be reported to the delegates for vote at the 2026 International Convention.

ITEM 1: A RESOLUTION TO AMEND THE CLUB DELEGATE FORMULA TO REQUIRE PAST DISTRICT GOVERNORS GRANTED VOTING RIGHTS BY A DISTRICT OR MULTIPLE DISTRICT TO BE MEMBERS OF A CLUB IN GOOD STANDING IN ORDER TO VOTE BY VIRTUE OF TITLE.
(THIS AMENDMENT TO THE BY-LAWS REQUIRES A MAJORITY VOTE TO ADOPT)
ITEM 2: A RESOLUTION TO INCREASE SEMI-ANNUAL INTERNATIONAL DUES TO BE PHASED IN OVER FIVE CONSECUTIVE YEARS BEGINNING IN FISCAL YEAR 2028-2029. A MODEST, PHASED IN DUES INCREASE WILL ALLOW THE ASSOCIATION TO CONTINUE TO SERVE THE MEMBERSHIP BY MAINTAINING EXISTING PROGRAMS AND SERVICES AND INVESTING IN NEW INITIATIVES IN THE FUTURE.
(THIS AMENDMENT TO THE BY-LAWS REQUIRES A MAJORITY VOTE TO ADOPT)
(Note: Effective July 1, 2028 – through July 1, 2032 (five years), dues would increase by $2/year from the current $50 (paid $25 semi-annually) to $52 effective July 1, 2028, $54 effective July 1, 2029, $56 effective July 1, 2030, $58 effective July 1, 2031, $60 effective July 1, 2032).
ITEM 3: A RESOLUTION TO INCREASE THE TOTAL NUMBER OF INTERNATIONAL DIRECTORS BY ONE AND REDUCE THE NUMBER OF BOARD APPOINTEES BY ONE. IT WOULD ALSO REDISTRIBUTE DIRECTOR POSITIONS BY REDUCING THE NUMBER OF DIRECTORS FROM THE UNITED STATES, ITS AFFILIATES, BERMUDA AND THE BAHAMAS BY ONE IN EVEN YEARS AND ONE IN ODD YEARS; ADDING ONE DIRECTOR IN EVEN YEARS FOR SOUTH AMERICA, CENTRAL AMERICA, MEXICO AND THE CARIBBEAN; AND ADDING TWO DIRECTORS IN ODD YEARS FOR INDIA, SOUTH ASIA, AND THE MIDDLE EAST.

Mental health is one of the world’s most urgent challenges, and Lions across Montana District 37 are helping make a difference through service, compassion, and community connection. Whether it is supporting youth, checking in on neighbors, assisting families in need, or simply offering a helping hand, every act of kindness matters.
Research also shows that volunteering not only helps others; it can improve your own mental health and well-being too. Serving as a Lion brings purpose, connection, friendship, and the rewarding feeling of making a positive impact in the lives of others.
As Lions, we know that service changes communities and it changes us as well. Discover how your club can take action and support mental health and well-being in this short video. Don’t Just Take My Word for It: Read Item 2 in the Official Convention Call
Back in February I covered the proposed international dues increase that will be voted on at the 2026 Lions Clubs International Convention in Hong Kong. This post is a short follow-up with one specific ask: go read the official language yourself.
LCI has published the formal call for convention, which lists all proposed amendments to the International Constitution and By-Laws that delegates will consider. The dues proposal appears as Item 2.
What Item 2 proposes
Item 2 is a resolution to amend Article XII, Section 2(a) of the International By-Laws, which governs semi-annual international dues. If adopted by a majority vote of convention delegates, the amendment would increase the semi-annual rate from the current $25.00 to $30.00 over five consecutive fiscal years:
- July 1, 2028: $25 to $26
- July 1, 2029: $26 to $27
- July 1, 2030: $27 to $28
- July 1, 2031: $28 to $29
- July 1, 2032: $29 to $30
That is a $10 total increase to annual dues spread across five years, or $2 per member per year.
Why read the source document
Summaries, including ours, involve editorial choices about what to emphasize. The official call for convention contains the exact proposed language that delegates will vote on, including the specific by-law sections being amended. If your club is going to have an informed conversation about this proposal, or if your club has a delegate attending the convention, reading the primary source is not optional.
What to look for
When you find Item 2, note that the resolution language is structured as a series of sequential “BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED” clauses, one for each year’s increase. This is the mechanism that allows the phase-in. The resolution requires a majority vote to adopt, not a supermajority.
For reference, Item 3 in the same document covers a separate proposal to restructure international director representation by region. That item requires a two-thirds vote and is a different conversation entirely.
District 37 dues remain unchanged
As noted previously: this proposal does not automatically change District 37 dues or club dues. District dues are set through our own budget process. If the international increase is approved, individual clubs will decide independently how to handle the impact.
